Bring your domain,
keep your year

Transferring adds a full year to whatever time is already left on the name. Nothing is lost and your DNS carries over unchanged.

Unlock it at your current registrar

Every registrar has a "registrar lock" or "transfer lock" switch. Turn it off. This exists to stop a domain being stolen, which is why it is on by default.

Get the authorisation code

Sometimes called an EPP code, auth code or transfer key. Your current registrar must give it to you — for .uk domains the process is different and simpler: they just change the IPS tag to ours.

Start it here and pay for a year

That year is added to your existing expiry, not instead of it. If you had eight months left, you now have twenty.

Approve the email

The registry emails the address on the domain's record to confirm. Click it and the transfer completes, usually within five days — often much sooner.

Before you start

A domain registered or transferred in the last 60 days cannot move

This is an ICANN rule, not ours. You will have to wait out the remainder of the 60 days.

Check the contact email on the domain

The approval goes to whatever address is on the WHOIS record. If that is an old mailbox you cannot reach, update it before you begin.

Your DNS records come with you

We copy the existing zone so mail and any subdomains keep working. If you host elsewhere, nothing about your website changes at all.

.uk domains work differently

No auth code. Ask your registrar to change the IPS tag to ours and it moves, usually within minutes. Tell us and we will walk you through it.
